Welcome to Buddha Gate Monastery!
Buddha Gate Monastery is the first overseas
branch of the Chung Tai Chan Monastery. It sits in the beautiful town
of Lafayette, 25 miles east of the San Francisco Bay. With the views that
expand the mind and peaceful air that calms the soul, it is the perfect
environment for Zen meditation. Buddha Gate Monastery is within an hour's
drive from Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and Silicon Valley.
The Zen Hall accomodates over one hundred cultivators. And the Prajna
Lecture Hall has been used for sutra studies and lectures. It has a capacity
for over 50 people.
Many people who walk into Buddha Gate, newcomers
and long-time Buddhists alike, feel immensely enriched by what they have
found here. This is a treasure house full of spiritual gems waiting to
