On October 10th, 2000, the Buddha Gate Monastery opened its doors in Lafayette, California. Buddha Gate has attracted a great number of local Buddhists as well as people of all ages who are new to Buddhism.

Can you hear the flora of Buddha Gate monastery is expounding the Dharma? They are saying, "In every flower there is a universe, in every leaf there is a Buddha."

Arhats are 'saints' or sages who have fully realized the Buddhist Doctrine. At the Monastery, we have 18 Arhat statues. Numerous stories are told about each to inspire people silently.

Stand in a secluded corner and observe the serene and empty sky, the rugged surrounding mountains, even the booming city of Lafayette in front of you; you may suddenly come to realize that the mind is as vast as the cosmos and as bright as the stars, and that we are one with nature.
